Ellis Island replaced the Castle Garden center. The site address is: http://castlegarden.org Click on the "Search" button on the top left corner of the page. Then type in the name you are searching for. The other site is the Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild which includes ships arriving through the 1940s. The site address is: http://www.immigrantships.net/ You will see on the top of the page Volume 1 through Volume 11. You will need to check each of the Volumes to search for your name. Once you click on the Volume you will need to click on the "Port of Arrival." Most should be New York,New York The next page will be a chronological arrangement of the ships entering New York. Find the timeframe and click on each of the ships within that year. You will see the entire manifest for each ship. Have fun searching and don't get discouraged.
